Here are a few of the original groups aside from The Nerve! I've played with over the past years. Did lots of cover gigs too but who cares. I don't. These are some of the bands that I felt mattered.
Q-Ball:
Still holding the bottom down for this guy. The Music is not quite The Nerve! In fact, a decade ago I may have beaten myself up for playing stuff like this. Nowadays, I freaking love it. His website says more than I can here. http://www.qballmusic.com/
Bumblefoot:
I am totally stoked to be playing my first show with Bumblefoot this coming Feb 16th, 2005. It'll be at a benefit show for MS at Sweet 16 in NYC. It's also my birthday, what a nice present from the universe. I auditioned for this guy back in 1999, but he went with someone else. I was determined to play with him cuz, well, quite frankly I realized the guitar god he was, and after a little subtle persistence got asked to play in July of 2001. When Sept. 11th came down lots of personal issues started coming up in the band, Bumblefoot decided to release his new CD with the title 9/11, and cancel all live performances. All profits from the 9/11 CD go straight to the Red Cross. Anyhow - sparing a lot of details, Bumblefoot's back in action and he asked me if I wanted to do this benefit show. This is the most challenging music I've ever played. I urge you to check out his site, download some music, and buy his CDs. My fav is Uncool... If you want to hear some serious shredding though go for Hands or one of the others. www.bumblefoot.com
Micheline Van Hautem:
Micheline pays my bills these days. Another far cry from The Nerve! Randy and I back her acoustically whenever she's playing in the states. She tours the world with her group mich en scene. Oh, did I mention that it's all French music? She's best known for her renditions of the songs of Jaques Brel. She's pretty hot too. :) We've become the best of friends. Check her out here http://www.michenscene.com/ .
Dictator's Bitch:
This guy paid me well to jump around and have a shitload of fun with him. Poor guy never realized I liked the stuff enough to have done it for free. :) I'd say that he's completely insane but you can make that call for yourself. Download the video "Hillbilly" on this this page, I played bass on it. http://www.zebox.com/therichcasellashow/# . Check out his cable show also, I think it kicks ass.
Amanda's Waiting:
Played with them for almost 2 years. Did a few songs on their CD also. I loved these guys, uh, girls. They disbanded a few years back, but a search still brings up a lot of stuff. I liked this as I'm in the picture. http://www.livebands.net/bandhomepage.cfm?ID=1721
Lisa St. Ann:
Not quite sure what happened to her? The only info I could find in a search was this http://www.ncweb.com/ent/notes/lisastan.html Played with her a while ago and since lost contact. She gave me my first touring experience. We played a lot of shows from NY all the way up to Canada, some of them in the middle of a blizzard. I learned lots. Her drummer and guitarist at the time we toured were Preston Nash and The Virus from Dope (before the days of DOPE). They both played on the CD above, and The Virus produced it (under his real name). They looked a little different back then... hmmm. Both really great guys.
Keeta Speed:
I played a show with another band once and happened to catch this guy. He had filled the club to capacity and as soon as he hit the stage I knew why. He was a perfect mix of Beck, Iggy Pop, Freddy Mercury and some ultra talented dude you never saw before. I was floored. Didn't want my band to play that night. Just wished I were in his band. About a year later I answered an ad in the Village Voice. When my call was returned it was Keeta. I auditioned, got the gig, and toured with them for a little more than a year. They've since also disbanded, he went into Television, and is now one of the producers of Queer Eye For the Straight Guy. To this day I've still never seen anyone outperform him. Doesn't want to be associated with music anymore, couldn't tell you why and he seems to have cleaned up all his internet trails. Unfortunately this is about all I can find that even suggests that he ever existed http://home.nyc.rr.com/davidradler/ . 3rd paragraph. Now this exists also. Sorry Keeta.
